It started when Myla, our toddler at the time, had an eczema flare up and we went looking for something natural to strengthen her from the inside. She seemed to catch every bug going round nursery, and everything on the shelf was either sugar dressed up as a vitamin or a lab made fix for a symptom. So we went back to basics, back to what we grew up on. Seamoss. We made the first jars just for Myla, in our own family kitchen. Then friends and family started asking for their own, and before we knew it, that kitchen had grown into something we could never have imagined. Where does your sea moss come from?
Our seamoss is wild-harvested in the protected waters of St. Lucia, by farmers we work with directly. It's dried naturally by the sun, then lab-tested to make sure every batch is pure and free from harmful bacteria before it reaches our kitchen in London.
What does sea moss gel taste like?
On its own, very little, and customers add it to sweet and savoury recipes alike. There's a gentle sea-and-lime scent, which is completely normal: it's 100% natural and comes from the ocean.
How do customers usually enjoy it?
Most customers enjoy 1–2 tablespoons a day, often stirred into smoothies, porridge or tea, or taken straight from the spoon.
Can children take sea moss?
Yes! Myla's Moss started with our own daughter. Seamoss offers essential minerals that support growing bones, natural energy and immune systems. Parents often start little ones with a teaspoon.
How do I store it?
Keep it refrigerated at all times and use within the timeframe on the jar. For longer storage, freeze it in ice-cube trays, for up to 6 months and thaw a portion as you need it.
Why has my sea moss arrived a different colour, or with a slight smell?
A little variation is completely normal - every jar is handmade in small batches rather than mass-produced in a factory, so the exact colour, texture and scent can shift slightly from batch to batch. It doesn't mean anything's wrong with it.
My order is delayed — what should I do?
Sorry about that - message us on WhatsApp or email bianca@mylasmoss.com and we'll track it down straight away. Because our jars are made fresh to order, we ask that you flag anything no more than 3 days late so we can sort a replacement before it affects freshness.
Can I change my delivery address after ordering?
Yes, as long as your order hasn't been dispatched yet. Just let us know before 9am and we'll update it for you. Once an order's been posted we're not able to make changes.
Is seamoss vegan?
Yes! It's a plant-based sea vegetable, so it's entirely vegan and vegetarian.
How much seamoss should I take, and how often?
We recommend 1-2 tablespoons a day. You can take directly from the jar or add it to things like smoothies, tea or porridge.
I'm concerned about Iodine levels in seamoss?
Every batch is third-party lab tested, and our sea moss isn't concentrated enough in iodine for a normal serving to be a concern. You'd need to eat three 340ml jars in a single sitting before that became something to worry about.
What's the difference between sea moss gel and powder, capsules or gummies?
Gel is the whole sea moss, soaked and blended fresh - nothing extracted, concentrated or dried out. Powders and capsules are far more processed, and because they're so concentrated you'd need to drink a lot of water alongside them to properly hydrate and absorb it - it's a bit like eating sawdust. Gummies are usually mostly sugar, and a lot of what's on the market now is mass-produced using imitation sea moss rather than the real thing.
